The couple who caused a scandal with their uninvited appearance at a 2009 White House state dinner has seized our attention once again when Tareq Salahi reported that his wife Michaele was missing and had been abducted. In fact, Michaele Salahi had run away, it seems — into the open arms of Journey guitarist Neal Schon. For those who don’t follow reality TV (I don’t follow, so I needed to research this one), this couple turned their White House dinner scandal into a reality TV show – The Real Housewives of D.C.
Tareq, the polo-playing aristocrat of the feuding Oasis Winery family, lit up the Internet when he claimed his wife of eight years had gone missing — and that he believed she’d been “kidnapped.” Hours later, the Warren County (Va.) Sheriff’s department released a statement saying they had talked to Michaele, she seemed fine, had willingly left home, and didn’t want her husband to know where she was.
It was later confirmed by a publicist for Journey that Michaele was having an affair with guitarist Neal Schon and was now living with him. Journey, before their recent career resurgence, had played at Salahi-run polo matches. She and Neal Schon had supposedly been in a relationship prior to her marriage to Tareq and Michaele recently realized that she had made the wrong choice in partner.
Tareq Salahi recently appeared on the Matt Lauer show to speak out on this latest family scandal. To watch the interview, go to: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/44637793#44637793
Currently, another scandal is brewing – more juicy drama for those who enjoy this sort of thing. The couple is now being investigated for alleged charity and business fraud. This couple may eventually wish they had led anonymous lives.
