Elgin resident Miguel Bribiescas admitted to charges of spying after a small camera was found in the bathroom of Ridgefield industries in Crystal Lake. The camera recorded one person using the female wash facilities before being discovered by another worker.
Once the pen-sized device was turned over to police, they discovered that Bribiescas, aged 25, had mainly recorded himself while trying to determine how the camera worked. He was easily identified, and arrested by police. His mistake, and his crime, could cost him anywhere from one to three years in prison. However, because he does not have a criminal record, his attorney believes that probation would be the most appropriate punishment.
Currently free on bond, Bribiescas’ trial has been set for January 20th, 2010.
