In our search for the better surveillance vehicle, we have stumbled on a clever albeit funny idea to use in the suburban surveillance. This may not work in an industrial park or in the downtown area of the city of Chicago, but will work great in suburban Chicago! Watering and trimming are required.
In an effort to show how difficult it can be to conduct surveillance in suburban areas, this comical video shows what a private investigator may need to do in order to blend in. No matter if the investigator is investigating a cheating spouse, an alleged injury at work or a violation of a contract, making yourself blend into the scenery is a real talent.
I remember several cases where I used a surveillance van only to have a swarm of neighbors suspect that my plain van was something unusual for their neighborhood. Often neighbors will call police or try to inquire themselves as to the reason we are sitting for hours.
Sequestered in the back of a van for hours on a hot day, with no where to go (so to speak) can be a challenge for the PI. Food, water and bodily functions as well as sweltering heat and frigid Midwest cold air can cause any PI to consider another profession.
So the next time you request a surveillance from us, remember, blending into the scenery is difficult and best left to professionals and landscapers.
