While attempting to steal copper from the roof of an elementary school, it’s presumed that at least one of the thieves was seriously injured from a large jolt.
Albuquerque police say thieves atop the school’s roof with tools to take the copper knew they would be cutting into a live wire, but went ahead with it anyway.
There was no surveillance at the crime scene but police found a scorched t-shirt and melted tools.
Copper theft continues to be a huge problem across the county as prices of the metal skyrocket.
