In Chef’s Hands-Food Therapy for the Soul is having their second fundraiser. This new non-profit organization was founded by the Crane Family. Chefs Rodelio Aglibot and Todd Stein provide culinary educational experiences for individuals with special needs who have a passion for food and cooking with renowned professional chefs. They have had some very excited special need participants work one-on-one with renowned chefs throughout the city over the past few months. Without your support, their dreams cannot happen.
The objective is to offer a distraction, a welcomed respite from the distress that often accompanies these individual’s conditions, hence—using food as therapy for the soul.
The organization started as a simple idea…
Scott Crane was a foodie. He lived with a rare form of muscular dystrophy that limited what he could do with food (i.e., cooking, access to certain restaurants, not always being able to eat out due to deteriorating strength, etc.) While in hospice in late 2010, he decided to take up food therapy at his house with a volunteer at Midwest Palliative & Hospice CareCenter.
