(KMOV) – New developments were announced in the case of a missing Metro East woman who left her one-year-old child behind and has not been heard from in weeks.
Police in a suburb of Chicago found the vehicle that Taila Sayles, 18, was driving. It was badly damaged but there were no signs of her.
Family members filed a missing person’s report on October 7 when she didn’t come back to her East St. Louis home in her mother’s gold Ford Escape. She left to take her cousin home but never returned.
Members of her family say it’s not like her to leave her infant son behind.
On Monday, police from Riverside, called Sayles’ mother to say they found her car with all the windows busted out but no sign of her daughter.
Family members are unaware of any friends Sayles may have had in the Chicago area.
“Now we really believe there may be something else going on other than her just leaving home. There were no issues with her, no problems with her family, nothing of that nature,” said Chief Michael Floore with the East St. Louis Police Department.
Police say there are recent tweets on Sayles’ Twitter account and one of them indicates she may have been held against her will but family members can’t be sure she is the one posting the tweets.
Anyone who knows any information about the whereabouts of Sayles is asked to call the East St. Louis Police Department.
